A message from GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday evening.  This is Mr. Freeman from Grant Elementary School with a quick look at a few happenings this week.  Let’s start with tomorrow with our first Minimum Day of the year.  Our Minimum Day schedule starts with grades 4-6 being dismissed at 12:15.  They will be followed by 7-8 getting out at 12:45.  Finally, the TK-3 students will be done at 1:15.  On Thursday we will be having our next PTO Meeting.  That will take place at 3:15 in the Grigsby Library and all Grant School parents are invited to come and be a part of PTO this year. At 8:00 Friday morning our Sports Boosters group will be meeting in the Conference Room.  Parents are invited to come and be a part of this group that helps Grant Athletics be the best they can be.  Friday will also be Blue and Gold Day so rock your school colors and show your Cougar pride.  Speaking of Cougar pride, time is running out to get your Grant gear ordered through the Webstore.  The window closes on September 10th so hurry up and get your gear ordered before it is too late!  You can access the Webstore from our district website or our Facebook page.  Also happening on Friday is something that I am really excited about.  I am happy to announce that Grant School will be launching our very own Safety Patrol for students in grades 4-6 and we will be having an Information Meeting Friday at lunch in the VAPA Room.  Our Safety Patrol will be called Cougar Cops and we will be working with selected students to help make our campus safe throughout the day and for special events.  Our Cougar Cops will be outfitted with uniforms and badges and will meet regularly with school administration to discuss student safety.  This will be a leadership opportunity for students so they will definitely want to come to the meeting on Friday during their 4th-6th grade lunch to learn more.

Looking on the horizon, next week is a huge week because on Friday, September 14th Grant School will be holding its annual Jog-a-Thon.  Pledge envelopes went home last Friday so make sure you sign up to support your Cougars as they run laps to raise money for their classrooms.  Whether you go with a flat rate or a per lap donation, it all adds up to help your student’s class.  100% of the money raised in our Jog-a-Thon goes directly into your student’s classroom so this is a great cause to support.  Our 7th and 8th graders will be adding some color again this year to make it a Color Run Jog-a-Thon.  The Jog-a-Thon is a great event and the whole Grant School community is invited to come out and run with us.  Mark your calendars for next Friday morning and I will see you out there.

That’s it for now.  Let’s continue to Make Every Day Count at Grant School this year.  GO COUGARS!
