A message from GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Good evening everyone.  This is Mr. Freeman reaching out again to all of our Grant School families with a couple of very important pieces of information…

First, let’s start with what is on everyone’s hearts and minds these days.  While we are not even remotely through the recovery from the Carr Fire losses, many of us have watched the loss and devastation from the Camp Fire in the Paradise area and have experienced the call to do something to help.  Several Grant parents have reached out to me and ask that I pass along information to our parents that might want to get involved and help.  This Saturday a Grant brigade will be going down to deliver donations and provide support.  They would like to put out a call for new coats/jackets that will be donated to Camp Fire victims.  Please no sweatshirts or hoodies.  New warm winter coats of any and all sizes and styles.  Grant students will be writing comforting notes to Camp Fire families and these notes will be put in the pockets of the coats.  Coats and notes to help out people in need.  They are also collected gift cards in $20 increments that they can give to families in need.  New coats and $20 gift cards will go a long way.  These donations can be dropped off at the District Office this week.  If you would like to be part of the Grant School brigade, let us know in the District Office and we can give you the details as to when and where the group will be meeting.  Students are invited to help and be a part.  The group will be rocking their Grant School shirts to represent and be ambassadors of Grant.  This is one little way we are striving to pay the generosity that we have received forward as we are able to.

Second thing, you may have heard about the string of bus involved accidents across the country recently.  In response to this, and in an effort to keep kids safe everywhere, I met with our Lead Bus Driver and together we prepared a few safety reminders for our parents to keep in mind.  I have attached our letter to this message and I would appreciate it if you could review the information.  We need to be able to do everything that we can to ensure that our students get to and from school safely everyday.

That’s it for now.  Don’t forget about the Family Feast this Thursday.  We are collecting holiday ornaments to put together care packages for our Carr Fire families after Thanksgiving so please bring your ornament to the feast to help us build up our collection.

Have a great night everyone and GO COUGARS!
