A message from GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Hello everyone. This is Mr. Freeman from Grant School and I want to give everyone an update on what’s cooking in the Grant School kitchen. I recently sat down with our Cafeteria Manager/Lead Cook, Lorena Andersen, to get a sneak peek at some the new menu items coming our way in October. We are excited to launch four new menu items next month. On October 12th we will be featuring a Burrito Bowl. Monday, October 23rd we will be serving up our first ever mash-up of chili and mac and cheese. We are calling it Chili Mac. The next day we will be serving up fish and chips (fries). And our last new item will be on October 25th and we are calling it Wacky Cake. I am so appreciative of our cafeteria team. Next time you are on campus, swing by and say hi. They would love to get to get the chance to meet you. And if you have not had our cinnamon rolls on Fridays, make plans to come in and have breakfast with your student because they are out of this world. I am attaching a couple of files to this email. The first one is our October Menu. You can always access it online but sometimes a hard copy helps to have on the fridge at home. The other file is our Free and Reduced Meal Application. I am not sure if you know this but students that qualify for reduced meals are actually given free meals at Grant for both breakfast and lunch. I understand that family situations sometimes change throughout the year and I want to encourage any and all parents that may qualify for this program to apply. Completed applications can be dropped off either in the Main Office, the District Office, or the Cafeteria. Grant School would love to support and help in any way that we can.
That’s it from the kitchen this month. Thanks for your support of the many programs that we have in place for students. If there is anything that we can do to improve, please pass along any suggestions you might have. You can email me, call, or swing by the office. After all, here at Grant we “expect the best”.
