A message from GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Hello everyone and good Sunday evening to you from Grant School.  This is Mr. Freeman and I have a preview of the week that will be but first let’s do some shout outs to the week that was.  These have been exciting times around Grant, and a lot of the excitement has been about Shrek Jr.  To the cast, crew, and our parent volunteers, I want to thank all of you for another epic musical.  This year’s show, Shrek Jr., was amazing and I was blown away by all of it.  The make-up, costumes, set design, the Bizarre, the raffle and auction items.  All of it.  Hats off to everyone for a great show.  Ok, here we go with this week.  With one week left before Spring Break, you can imagine that there is a lot happening.  Let’s start with our Girls Inc. group.  As part of their commitment to community service, they are collecting NEW swimsuits to donate to a local non-profit agency who works with foster youth.  All sizes of suits for both boys and girls are needed and collections bags are around campus.  The drive ends this week and there are prizes.  The class that brings in the most suits will win a root beer float party and second place will win a free drink card from Dutch Bros.  Thank you Girls Inc.  I want to remind you that our Sports Boosters group has opened up the Grant School web store for your last chance to get your Grant gear.  The web store is available from our home page but hurry because it closes down on April 2nd and won’t be back until next year.  Speaking of last chances, the deadline to order your yearbook online is April 13th.  There will be a few extras ordered for purchase in May but the only sure way to guarantee it is to order it now.  This Tuesday is our our next Dine and Donate opportunity and this time it is at MOD Pizza.  Starting at 4:00 and going until 8:00, stop by and mention Grant School at checkout and a portion of your order will go to benefit Grant School PTO.  Last time, at Chipotle, we raised over $1,000.  Let’s see if we can be it this time.  Besides, it’s a great reason to get your MOD on.  Thanks PTO!  Mark your calendars for the annual Outback Dinner and Auction on Thursday, April 12th.  This is a fundraiser for our graduating 8th graders and they will be selling dinner tickets as Outback Restaurant takes over the Grant School cafeteria.  Dinners are available to dine in or carryout and the 8th graders will be serving.  8th grade parents will be putting together auction items as well to help raise money for the end of the year trip.  Again, that is April 12th so see an 8th grader for your tickets and thanks for your support.  I know there is more.  We had spellers at the Shasta County Spelling Bee that represented Grant School this last week and our 7th grade Odyssey of the Mind Team went to state on Saturday.  I will get the final results for these students and give them some shout outs next time.  There are always a lot of great things happening at Grant School and I want to thank everyone for expecting the best each and every day.  On a safety tip, I want to encourage all of our parents to drive safe as you enter and leave the Grant School parking lot.  We all want to especially be careful as we stop at the Swasey/Placer stop sign and turn left to go back into town.  Concerned folks in the community have reached out to me to let me know that we could do better.  We do not want anyone to get hurt so please come to a complete stop, scan for traffic both directions, and then proceed when it is safe.  Alright, I am out of time.  For more information, check out home page or our Facebook page.  Thanks for all you do and GO COUGARS!
