Check here for updates regarding Cougars, our pre-kindergarten class at Grant Preschool.
Home activities are activities you can do with your child at home to reinforce what is being taught at school. Each month, there will be a list of themes, numbers, letters, etc., that the class is working on. There will be a list of activities for you to do with your child.
We will be reviewing everything we have learned this year—using fun games and activities!
Letters and Numbers
Review numbers 1 through 20. Review N through Z. Review sight words: Had, etc.
Encourage your child to tell you about the stories, songs, and games he/she learns in class.
Write the numbers 1 through 20 on pieces of paper and have your child count out pirate gold (pennies) to match each number.
Small Motor Activity
Give your child old magazines or newspaper ads and have them cut out pictures of things they like (pirate treasure) and put the pictures in a shoe box (treasure chest).
Large Motor Activity
Make a treasure map and have your child play "Follow the Leader" to find a treasure (a toy, a penny, etc.)
Reading and Phonics
Write out all the sight words on flash cards and play memory. You can also have your child find the sight words as you are reading books together.
