A message from GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Hello everyone and happy Wednesday, July 19th. This is Mr. Freeman calling from Grant Elementary School and I am so excited to be calling you this evening. I know it has been a while since you have heard from me so I thought I would call with a midsummer update. Don’t worry you have plenty of summer still left but the first day of school is four weeks from today so be sure to live it up! The work around campus is frantic in preparation for the upcoming school year. We have done some painting and cleaning. The bus loop blacktop was replaced last week. Junior high students last year told us that they needed some new drinking fountains so those are going in. You guys are getting the cool new drinking fountains with the water bottle fill option. We installed a new speed sign on Swasey so be sure to slow down and check that out. The gym floor is being refinished for volleyball and hoops action this year. Our guys are working hard in the heat and we will be ready for you to come back to us when the time comes. While I have you on the line, I want to share three things with you. First, I want to remind you to get your Summer Six in before school starts. What’s the Summer Six? Remember, we challenged you to read six books this summer. I have read three so I need to get going. If you need a book, you don’t need to go to the Library or Barnes and Noble. Check out our very own lending library in front of the Main Office. We have books for all ages so swing by and save a trip into town. Second thing, I will be attaching the 2017-18 School Year calendar to my follow up email so you can mark down all of the important dates. Last thing, I want to thank you for your patience with our current web site. We have been in the process of transitioning to a new design and I think you are going to love it. With that being said, there will be a transition period where the district site will not be available. Don’t freak out. The new one is better than ever and will be worth the wait. Okay, that’s it for me. Thanks for your time and I hope you are staying cool and having a great summer. GO COUGARS!
