Gifted and talented education
The Grant School GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) program supports students who demonstrate advanced abilities and a passion for learning. In grades 4–6, students participate in pull-out classes designed to extend and enrich the core curriculum. In grades 7–8, students engage in honors projects across English, math, social studies, and science. We also offer an honors Spanish elective, enabling students to start high school in Spanish 2.
Through enriched lessons, creative projects, and opportunities to explore topics in greater depth, our gifted learners are challenged academically while developing confidence, leadership, and collaboration skills. The goal of the program is to nurture each child’s strengths, inspire curiosity, and help them thrive in school and beyond.
The program is led by Renee Sumption, an educator with over 30 years of experience working with gifted students and a recipient of the California Association for the Gifted Teacher of the Year award.
