A message from GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Good Monday evening everyone.  This is Mr. Freeman emailing from Grant Elementary School with a quick look at another busy week at Grant.  Let me start with a couple of big things happening this week.  For starters, we have our Winter Book Fair happening in the Grigsby Library.  Our Librarian, Kim McClung has transformed the Library into a holiday bookstore and is open for business.  Business hours will be Monday through Thursday 7:30-8:20 and 2:00-4:30.  Special “kids free shopping” times will be 8:20-9:30 Monday-Friday and and 1:15-2:00 Monday through Thursday..  The Book Fair will be closed on Friday at 9:30 so swing by and check it out.  We also have several ways for folks to make a donation to help our friends at Shasta Elementary School so check that out.  Also happening this week is our Hour of Code.  Students will be participating in learning experiences that will teach them the magic world of coding and students that participate will have a chance to win their own set of ozobots!  This week we will have our Music Boosters meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 in the VAPA Room.  Thursday will be our PTO meeting at 3:15 in the VAPA Room.  Last but not least our Sports Boosters will be meeting in the Conference Room at 8:00 on Friday.  Speaking of Friday, it will be Blue and Gold Day at Grant School and we have invited some Shasta High students to come and help us throw a good old-fashioned pep rally.  The rally will be for students in grades 4-8 and will recognize our fall sports athletes and our winter sports teams.  Our Student Council and Shasta’s Student Council will come together for quite a show.  That will be Friday from 1:15-2:10 in the Watson Gym.  Last thing on my list, I want to personally invite all of our families that were impacted by the Carr Fire to swing by the Fitness Room before or after school this week.  The Grant School community have put together a little holiday boutique of donated ornaments and some plates of sugar cookies for families as a small token of love and to wish you some holiday cheer.  Again that is all this week before and after school.  Grab a gift bag and take some ornaments, and don’t forget your plate of cookies!  That’s it for me I think.  Thanks for listening and for all that you do to help us out each and every day.  Speaking of every day, let’s Make Every Day Count and GO COUGARS!
