Hello everyone and happy Tuesday evening from Grant School.  This is Mr. Freeman with just a couple of quick announcements.  First of all, I need to let everyone know that we have decided to postpone our Jog-a-Thon event originally scheduled for this Friday.  I know how much everyone looks forward to this event but we want to wait until the air quality is consistently better so that we can truly come together as a school community to celebrate.  So stay tuned for the make-up date on the Jog-a-Thon.  The good news is that this will give your student even more time to raise money for their classrooms!  This week I would like to thank our Transportation Lead, Miss April Carroll for helping our students be safe on the bus.  She is walking all of our students through safe bus evacuation procedures and I appreciate the time and professionalism she puts into these talks with the kids.  Tomorrow is a fun day for our 8th grade students.  They are on their way to a great day in the city by the bay as they watch the San Francisco Giants take on the Atlanta Braves tomorrow afternoon.  Should be a great day.  Thanks to all of those that signed up to be chaperones and drivers.  Please be at the school tomorrow at 7:15 so we can give you your group assignments and your tickets.  That bus will leave tomorrow morning at around 7:30 and be back around 10:00.  Also happening this week is a very cool group that everyone should be a part of…CEF is meeting tomorrow night at 7:00 in the Grigsby Library.  We appreciate everything that the Centerville Education Foundation does for us and want to invite anyone interested to the meeting tomorrow night.  The week finishes up with a Back to School Blackout Dance on Friday night for 7th and 8th graders.  The dance will go from 7:00-9:30 in the MUR and all the cool kids will be there so you don’t want to miss it.  Before I let you go I did want to pass along information that I shared with a bunch of students in grades 4-6 today.  Today at lunch we held an information meeting for all students interested in our Cougar Cops Safety Patrol program.  The kids were excited so I thought that I would attach the information that went home so parents of 4th-6th graders can review it and encourage their student to apply.  It is going to be great!  The deadline to submit the application to myself or Mrs. Sutter is this Friday.  Okay, good luck to our soccer and volleyball teams in their first home games of the season tonight.  Thanks for your time as well.  If you have not already, stop what you are doing and think about where you were on this date 17 years ago.  Let us never forget the nearly 3,000 people that lost their lives that day when, like Alan Jackson sings, “the world stopped turning”.  Let’s hug our loved ones and Make Every Day Count.  GO COUGARS!
