A message from GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday evening everyone. I was on my way to the CEF Meeting tonight (7:00 in the Library if you want to join me!) and I thought that I would email with a couple of mid-week reminders.  First, for all of our 8th grade parents, I need to remind you about the 8th Grade Parent Meeting tomorrow night in Mrs. Morris’ classroom.  The meeting will be at 7:00 and the agenda will cover all of the planning and preparation that goes into the 8th grade year.  They will be setting up committees for graduation festivities so you will definitely want to come out or we will sign you up for everything!  Also I wanted to pass along information on our upcoming Jog-A-Thon.  That will be this Friday and it is one of the highlights of the school year.  Students were given donation/sponsor envelopes and I want to encourage you and your neighbors and your family and friends to get behind this activity because 100% of the money goes back to your student’s classroom for this year!  The event will take place on the field and parents are invited to come help out and even run with their student.  We will have event parking arranged with the good folks at Westside Church across the street.  The middle school blacktop will be closed due to the number of kids and parents assembled and Mr. Johnson’s DJ equipment.  We are asking for your help with a couple of things.  First of all, we want to encourage water bottles instead of cups.  We will have cups on hand but we are trying to cut down on the waste so make sure your student brings a water bottle and we can keep the refills coming.  We are also asking that if you do come out, please leave your family dogs at home.  I know, I am a dog person and it would be great to have them but they do present possible safety problems and other problems if you know what I mean and so I am asking you to leave they at home.  We will have free popsicles for all of our Grant students and they will be available for younger siblings and non-Grant students for 50 cents.  This really is a great event and I want to thank the staff for their hard work on this one.  It should be a beautiful day to get some laps in and raise some money for your student’s class.  That’s it for me tonight.  8th Grade Parent Meeting tomorrow night and the Jog-a-Thon on Friday.  Thanks for your time and thanks for all that you do to help us out.  Expect the Best and GO COUGARS!
